While the American Thanksgiving holiday began during Colonial times and was officially established in November by President Lincoln, the spirit of giving is also part of humanity’s tradition of trying to improve society….

And, in the 1980s, a National Philanthropy Day with activities was first celebrated — and then made official by President Reagan in 1986.
