Dog Days of Summer have you down? Cheer up with some NYLI Animal Law resources!

The expression “dog days of summer” has been around since Antiquity; The Ancient Greeks observed that the hottest day of Summer occurred when the dog star (Orion’s hunter Sirius) appeared in the sky. The Romans termed the constellation Canis Major (“Greater Dog”), and the hot days he presided over as “dies caniculares” (days of the the dog star”).
