The New York Law Institute Announces Sabrina Sondhi as Executive Director
(New York, NY – October 7, 2026) The New York Law Institute (NYLI), a membership law library, has announced that Sabrina Sondhi will serve as the Institute’s new Executive Director beginning January 1, 2027. Ms. Sondhi is well-known in the law librarian community for her leadership roles and experience in managing change in the industry.
About Sabrina Sondhi
Sabrina Sondhi brings almost 20 years of law library management experience to NYLI. She spent four years as Director of the Law Library and Professor of Legal Research at Penn State Dickinson Law (Carlisle) and contributed to the reunification of the school with its sister school, Penn State Law. Previously she was an associate director at Cornell Law Library during the pandemic and spent ten years at Columbia Law Library managing both their special collections and their fee-based services departments. Ms. Sondhi earned her MLIS from the University of Washington and her J.D. from Cornell Law School. She has been active in the American Association of Law Libraries, chairing two special interest sections and serving on multiple committees. In recent years she has spoken on several panels focusing on succession planning. During her previous decade in NYC, she was an active member of the Law Library Association of Greater New York. Prior to becoming a librarian, she practiced law at two small law firms before being hired as a trial attorney by Safeco Insurance.
“Sabrina brings to NYLI an exceptional combination of law-library leadership, operational experience, and a deep understanding of the needs of the legal profession,” said Lucy Curci-Gonzalez, the current Executive Director. “Her experience managing change, developing services, and working with members will be invaluable as NYLI builds on its strong foundation and looks toward the future. We are delighted to welcome her to NYLI.”
