What WILL you do? It’s “Make a Will Month” – NYLI Resources & LibGuide

August is “make a will ” month — kind of an adult activity placed in the last full month of Summer and not really a beach activity, lol!

While “Nutshells” aren’t exactly a top pool side read, they do offer an easy start to complex legal questions…

The latest 8th edition of Introduction to Estate Planning in a Nutshell covers all the essentials; everything from a Simple Will to Charitable Trusts, Community Property and Social Security.

Two of other newest nutshells involve T & E matters; the 10th edition of Federal Income of Estates, Trusts and Beneficiaries in a Nutshell, and a bit more peripherally – Historical Preservation in a Nutshell, now in its 3rd edition.

Of course, if you are bit more NY centric, you may want to check out these titles — more in depth than a Nutshell, but your bigshot T & E lawyer should know all about them… Turano’s classic NY Estate Administration, the “Greenbook” from Lexis about navigating NY’s Surrogate Court, and Harris 6th edition that focuses on taxation. And, yes, all three — along with over quarter million print items, $45 MILLION worth of eBooks, Records & Briefs, PQ Congressional, LLMC, OED… and award-winning librarians to help guide your research... are included as part of NYLI membership.

If you want to start your “Make a Will” month reading in earnest this August, check out your truly’s Trusts & Estates LibGuide... it’s got links to all of NYLI’s materials… plus advice from bar associations, libraries, public interest groups and universities…
