Using ProQuest Congressional for Legislative History Research Webinar

When an attorney asks what Congress intended when it enacted a law, where do you begin? This 30-minute session will demonstrate how to use ProQuest Congressional to conduct practical legislative history research—from identifying the legislation to locating the congressional materials that can help illuminate its development, purpose, and intent.

Using real research examples, we’ll explore how to search for legislation, use Topic Pages and other discovery tools, narrow results, search by bill number, and locate bills, hearings, reports, Congressional Record materials, and other primary-source congressional documents.

We’ll also take a brief look at ProQuest Congressional’s Federal Register and Code of Federal Regulations content and how these resources can support regulatory research.
