DESCRIPTION:LLMC State Materials\, with a focus on New York and other States of Interest \n\n\n\nThe New York Law Institute offers web-based training sessions to help you discover new resources and enhance your research with LLMC\, an extensive archive of historical primary and specialized legal materials covering the U.S. federal and state governments\, the British Commonwealth\, other foreign countries\, and various international organizations. Remote access to LLMC is included as a part of the NYLI membership and is available to all NYLI members through the NYLI.org portal. \n\n\n\nFamiliarize yourself with the LLMC research interface. Spend one hour with Anne Mostad-Jensen\, Director of Collection Development and Outreach at LLMC\, and learn how to take advantage of the full range of features offered to you by this service. In this webinar\, we will discuss the U.S. state-level material in LLMC.  The focus will be on New York works; however\, New Jersey\, Connecticut\, Florida\, California\, Illinois\, and Texas works will also be covered.  We will also review other state-level initiatives\, including State Court Records & Briefs\, Massachusetts Project (includes Mass. Regulations\, and Mass. Register)\, ESR Project\, and an overview of Indigenous titles\, including the newest Navajo Nation Dept. of Water Rights Project. \n\n\n\nThis webinar will take place Tuesday\, October 6 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern time\, and consist of an online presentation and a telephone conference\, so please ensure that you have both Internet and telephone access. \n\n\n\nRegister for this webinar.

DESCRIPTION:When an attorney asks what Congress intended when it enacted a law\, where do you begin? This 30-minute session will demonstrate how to use ProQuest Congressional to conduct practical legislative history research—from identifying the legislation to locating the congressional materials that can help illuminate its development\, purpose\, and intent. \n\n\n\nUsing real research examples\, we’ll explore how to search for legislation\, use Topic Pages and other discovery tools\, narrow results\, search by bill number\, and locate bills\, hearings\, reports\, Congressional Record materials\, and other primary-source congressional documents. \n\n\n\nWe’ll also take a brief look at ProQuest Congressional’s Federal Register and Code of Federal Regulations content and how these resources can support regulatory research.
