A new proposed amendment to the Ohio Supreme Court Rules for the Reporting of Opinions will eliminate publication of opinions of the Ohio Courts of Appeals and Ohio Court of Claims in the print Ohio Official Reports. If the amendment is approved, the opinions of these courts will be posted on the Supreme Court of Ohio website, but will no longer appear in an official print series of reporters. Opinions of the Ohio Supreme Court will continue to be published in print, but the Rules will be amended to specify that any opinions “shall be promptly posted to the Supreme Court website”.
According to a Supreme Court press release, “the declining demand for the print volumes due to the availability of the opinions via electronic publication was the major reason for the decision” to discontinue the print publication.
The full text of the proposed amendment is available online, and members of the public are invited to submit comments regarding the proposed change in writing to Sandra Grosko, Reporter of Decisions, 65 S. Front St., Eighth Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215 or sandra.grosko@sc.ohio.gov.
